Front Inscription: PETER BASHAW/ BORN/ MARCH 31, 1763/ DIED/ MAY 20, 1864/ AGED 101 YEARS/ 1 MO. & 20 DAYS
Note: Peter Bashaw was officially listed as receiving a pension for being a private in the
Virginia Militia during the American Revolution. According to descendants, who sent in
information to the Davidson County Cemetery Survey project, Peter Bashaw was the oldest
living Revolutionary soldier at the time of his death in 1864.

Note: On site visit date, cemetery was heavily overgrown with vinca and honeysuckle and there were many fallen tree branches. After the overgrowth has been cleared away, re-survey of the tombstones should be made.
